Frequently Asked Questions

At Harlequin Jewellers, I specialise in making engagement rings and wedding rings. However I also make other types of handmade jewellery for life’s special moments, for example, eternity rings, anniversary rings, dress rings, earrings, pendants, cufflinks, and bangles. I'm particularly passionate about creating pieces with incredible coloured gemstones.

Every piece we make at Harlequin Jewellers is completely custom. Many factors influence a quote, such as the metal, gemstones, size, width, etc. There's also so much clients discover during the process of designing an engagement ring with us, that impacts the final design they choose. So, the best thing to do, is book an appointment, to chat about your piece.

If you have a piece you'd love to have remodelled, I first like to take a good look at your original piece before I provide advice on what’s possible to create with the materials. Pricing varies depending on the original piece, the type of piece you’d like made, the condition of any existing gemstones, any new gemstones you'd like to add, metal choice, size, the list goes on. The first step to a quote is to book an appointment to chat through some ideas.
-
Absolutely not. While some clients arrive at the Harlequin Jewellers studio with a clear idea of what engagement ring they’d like made, others have no idea what they’d like beyond a budget. Either situation is welcome at our studio. Having a jeweller help you work out the engagement ring perfect for you is fun, and takes the stress out of choosing an engagement ring.

We work with all types of coloured gems. If you can think of a gem, I can source it. Our favourite types to work with are Spinels, Sapphires, and coloured diamonds, which are all strong enough for engagement rings, and can be found in a huge range of colours to suit any taste. We also love working with Tourmaline, Garnet, Aquamarine, Australian Opal and Morganite, though we don't stop there. We love a great gem hunting challenge, so if you have a gem in mind, get in touch to see what we can find for you.
-
My average turnaround time for engagement rings is 10-12 weeks from the time of your deposit. Though this can vary depending on what types of gems you'd like me to source for you, how complicated the design of your piece is, and the time of year. If you have a particular time frame in mind (like an upcoming proposal date that you really need an engagement ring for!), reach out to see if I can fit you in.

Our standard payment arrangement is a 70% deposit for engagement rings or a 50% deposit for other pieces of jewellery, with the rest due when you collect your finished piece. If you need an alternative payment arrangement, let's chat at your first consultation.
